Autotask Skills Management allows you to do the following:
- Define and categorize the skills, certificates and training, and educational degrees that are important to your business.
- Track and monitor the skill level, completed certifications and training, and degrees earned for all Autotask resources on their resource profile, where you can also attach documents such as resumes and performance reviews. Refer to Complete the Skills tab.
- Use the Resource Management search engine to match job requirements against resource profiles across departmental lines to identify and assign the right resource to a project, task or ticket. The resource search engine can also identify and assign resources who have hours available in a range of dates. Refer to The Find Resource wizard.
Skills Management tracks three areas: Skills, Certificates and Training, and Degrees.
The items listed under Skills,Certificates and Training, and Degrees help you to manage and assign resources.
Skills tracks resource qualifications, abilities, or areas of expertise that are not formally certified, but they are crucial to your organization. For example, you can track proficiency levels in various software applications, or areas of expertise like Project Management.
Certificates and Training track formal training courses that resources have completed. Often, these training courses and certifications are offered by software or hardware manufacturers to certify someone's competency in their product; for example:
- MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer)
-
Cisco Certified Network Professional Service Provider (CCNP SP)
You should also include any internal certification programs your company offers.
Degrees track formal educational degrees, such as those awarded by an educational institution; for example:
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.)
- Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.)

Each certificate and training, degree, and skill option must be assigned to a Category to facilitate searches. Because Category is a required field, the Skills, Certificates and Training, and Degrees areas must each have at least one category, but you can add as many as you like.
NOTE When you delete a Category, you delete all items assigned to that category. Deletion cannot be undone.
